Wellington Caves Complex

Right outside of Wellington you’ll find the Wellington Caves Complex, a geological site of two caves and one mine that will take you through stalagmites and stalactites, as well as many other crystal formations and minerals.
The first and perhaps most well-known cave is the Cathedral Cave, a stunning display of stalagmites and crystals that glitter alongside steps that will take you further in. There also exists a well deep inside the cavern. The Phosphate Mine is also part of the complex and showcases more of the historical impact residents have held on the site using it since 1914 to harvest phosphate used in fertiliser. Many fossils from the Pleistocene Period have been found within the mine. Lastly, you’ll find the Gaden Cave, an intricate work of limestone set in a smaller cave. Delve deep into the history and wonder the caves have been eliciting in explorers since long ago.
