Sulphide Street Railway & Historical Museum
The Sulphide Street Railway & Historical Museum takes you on a historic adventure. Start your experience at the Silverton Tramway Company station and delve through antiques and old trains. The museum is made up of memorabilia from the original station and building grounds for you to see. Onsite you’ll also find the Broken Hill Migrant Heritage Museum, Hospital Museum, Ron Carter Transport Pavillion and Tess Alfonsi Mineral Collection. The collection includes an 1888 Y class steam locomotive, and art deco Silver City Comet. Most of the exterior exhibits allow visitors to interact with and to walk through the carriages taking you back to when the tracks were in motion. The hospital museum provides insight into how far modern medicine has come with equipment used on display for a fascinating insight into the jump in technology and equipment.
