Indulge yourself in the rich heritage of Port Macquarie at the Port Macquarie Museum. Learn about the town’s history from British settlement in 1821, and it’s time as an early convict settlement, right through to the popular tourist destination that it is today.

Discover Port Macquarie’s stories as you make your way through 14 rooms and galleries featuring themed displays and unique collections. Enjoy ‘All Afloat’ focusing on the town’s maritime history and activities, ‘Costume Gallery’ featuring local women’s crafts, textiles, and clothing through the years, and many more exhibits. Displays are often changed and updated, and free audio guides are available.

Port Macquarie Museum is run by the Port Macquarie Historical Society, and their team of dedicated and knowledgeable volunteers. Entry fees are very reasonable, and at least one hour is recommended to explore the collections. The museum is located at 22 Clarence Street and is open Monday-Saturday 9:30am-4:30pm.
