Even before Paddington became one of the most upmarket suburbs in Sydney, Paddington Markets was an inner-city institution. The markets have operated every Saturday, rain, hail or shine on the grounds of the Heritage-listed Paddington Uniting Church since 1973.

The market was started as a platform for local independent fashion labels, designers, craftspeople, jewellery makers and artists to show off their talents to the wider world and perhaps even act as a launching pad to a successful career. In fact, some of Australia’s most successful boutique brands, such as renowned international fashion labels von troska and Zimmerman, and quirky jewellery makers Dinosaur Designs all got their start at Paddington Markets.

The market boasts over 150 unique stalls, with a large section dedicated to creative fashion and accessories, as well as unique custom-designed homewares, beautiful smelling soaps and candles, paintings, photos and pre-loved clothes, books, records and antiques.

An amazing place to find unique gifts you’re guaranteed to never see on the shelves of a commercial department store, many of the Australian designed and made products sold here are exclusive to Paddington Markets. While there’s something to suit every taste here, Paddington Markets is known for embracing the unconventional and even slightly outrageous. There’s also plenty of fresh-cooked gourmet fare from local food trucks to fuel your shopping adventures, as well as stalls selling irresistible regional Australian cheeses and locally baked bread.
