Grand Pacific Drive
For an experience true to Australia’s roots, a road trip spent on the Grand Pacific Drive will be nothing short of incredible. A shorter version than the more well known Great Ocean Road, the Grand Pacific Drive will give you 140 kilometres of stunning coastal terrain, lush rainforests, iconic destinations, and charming coastal towns complete with an array of food, culture, surf, and adventure.
Just a short distance from Sydney you can make your way along the coast through the Royal National Park, Wollongong, Kiama, Shoalhaven, Jervis Bay, and Eurobadalla before reaching the Victorian Border. Spend a day driving through what you can, but we recommend you make a road trip of it stopping at the coastal towns along the way.
First you’ll encounter the Royal National Park that will take you through to the coastline where you can spot whales migrating from May through to November. The park has several bushwalking tracks and campgrounds to spend some time in before making your way to Wollongong with beautiful beaches and views that will have you stopping time and time again. End this part of the trip in Shellharbour, where you can find plenty of snorkeling, diving, and surfing at Bass Point Reserve and the Killalea State Recreation Area.
Be sure to make your way through to the Kiama Blowhole, the stunning white sand beaches of Jervis Bay, and treat yourself to delectable oysters shucked fresh off the Clyde River in Eurobodalla. With so much to see and experience, the Grand Pacific Drive is an absolute must for a quick weekend getaway that will leave you refreshed and inspired.
