Fort Bourke Hill Lookout
During your stay in Cobar, venture to Fort Bourke Lookout to experience views across the town and its dramatic surroundings. Cobar is located in Outback New South Wales and is eight hours by car, west of Sydney.
One of Cobar’s main attractions would have to be the Fort Bourke Hill Lookout, which stands 300 metres above sea level and showcases views across Cobar’s surrounding. It also provides access to the entrance of an underground mine next door. The Cobar mineral belt sits in the distance from North to South and also can be seen from the lookout.
To reach the lookout, drive two kilometres south of Cobar, and on the way up you will pass by water tanks, with radio towers at the top. Just after, you’ll reach the Fort Bourke Hill Lookout. The best time to visit the Fort Bourke Lookout is at either sunrise and sunset, so you can watch the sky come to life, and its colours reflect off the land and town below.
