Fleet Air Arm Museum
The Fleet Air Arm Museum located in Nowra has been around since 1974, giving visitors an inside look at the development of naval aviation history in Australia from its very beginnings. The museum has been built and run by volunteers, mostly former Navy officers with help from the Nowra community. The museum is home to several exhibitions, where you can find all different kinds of aircraft and memorabilia, including the US 135th Assault Helicopter and other aircrafts used in the RAN Helicopter Flight. Much of the museum’s exhibits are not only visual but are audio-based and interactive as well, giving audience members a first-hand opportunity to feel what it may have been like to use particular aircraft at the time. After touring the museum, visitors can also visit the gift shop, cafe, theatre, and information centre.
