Coastal walk

Town Beach, Port Macquarie NSW, Australia

What better way to emerge yourself in the picturesque scenery and rich heritage of Port Macquarie than on foot? The coastal walk incorporates idyllic beaches, lush rainforest, and historic sites. At 9KM one way, some degree of physical fitness is required, however, it can be broken down into smaller sections, with plenty of lovely places to stop along the way.

Begin your walk at Town beach, close to the town centre. Meander along the stunning coastline through Flagstaff, Rocky Beach, Nobby’s Beach, Flynn’s Beach, and onto Shelly Beach. Look out for historic sites and landmarks along the way. Several lookouts provide breathtaking views of the sensational scenery, and a chance to spot migrating humpback whales.

There are ample opportunities to cool off with a refreshing swim in inviting waters, and Shelly Beach also has barbeques if you’re in need of refuelling before completing the last section of the walk to Tacking Point Lighthouse.
