Ballina Naval & Maritime Museum
Ballina has no shortage of tempting activities and attractions; however, a visit to the Naval and Maritime Museum should feature on all itineraries. Located on Regatta Avenue, with the Richmond River providing a picturesque backdrop, the impressive museum is home to the largest collection of Naval and Merchant ships in the country, as well as an exciting array of other intriguing memorabilia.
View the original Las Balsas Raft, and the remarkable 8 x 2 metre Port of Ballina painting. DVDs and interactive displays will entertain children, whilst adults will be fascinated by the Tribute to women in the Navy, working steam engine, and historic local river boats.
The museum is a not for profit organisation run by volunteers, with a goal to collect, preserve, and present the maritime heritage of Ballina. It is open 7 days per week and can easily be reached by car with ample free parking available.
